Rogers Pass and Canadian Rockies Ski Mountaineering!

Deep in the Rogers Pass backcountry.

March 17-25, 2018

Backcountry skiing Canada is a fanatic's "rite of passage". Names like Rogers Pass, Aemmer Couloir, Bow Summit, and Seven Steps of Paradise elicit images of the steep, deep, untracked, and iconic. From a comfortable house in Golden, BC, some of the world's best day-trip big mountain ski touring is easily accessible. We have the option to go west for the powder of Rogers Pass, or east to the clearer skies of the Icefields Parkway. Compare this to one of those legendary hut-based ski touring trips, except that you won't get shut down flying into your accommodations and each day we choose from objectives in a radius of 100km instead of just a few hours of touring.

Mount Hector is one of Canada's legendary "11,000ers". In a country with  more mountain wilderness than you can comprehend, the ability to summit the 46th highest peak in the nation on a fairly reasonable day trip from a comfortable house is amazing!
The STS Couloir at Rogers Pass is a "quick hit" that packs in 3000 vertical feet of rowdiness, minutes from the road.

Powder skiing the glades of Alberta's Bow Summit.
It is a mountain wilderness. Bear tracks on a day tour from Banff National Park's Bow Summit.

The Aemmer Couloir on Mount Temple, above Lake Louise, is one of the "Fifty Classic Ski Descents in North America".

Giant glaciers top the gnarly lines of the greater Rogers Pass area.
